Jacksonville is
Florida's northern most city making it the gateway to the Sunshine State.
Jacksonville is not only an NFL expansion city, its' an expanding business
region. The city and the surrounding counties of Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau,
Putnam and St. Johns make up the area called Florida's First Coast. Northeast
Florida shares the wealth of the Sunbelt and the state of Florida, yet has
a distinctive business atmosphere all its own. The diverse economy, known
for its financial, information services, industrial, distribution and tourism
industries, provides a thriving commercial blend which stimulates abundant
economic opportunity. Jacksonville has a diverse economic base and is expanding
at a rapid pace. The area does not depend heavily on any one major employer
or employment sector, however significant strength can be seen in financial
and office services,
manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, medical
and health care products and services, military and sports and recreation
activities.
Jacksonville is one of the hottest
spots in the South for reasons such as its strategic location, great intermodal
transportation, low construction costs and appealing taxes/incentives.
Jacksonville's employment base experiences
little seasonal fluctuation. More than a thousand jobs a month are being
added to the local work force, making the First Coast a great place for
job seekers. Jacksonville has a large available labor force, due primarily
to in-migration of new workers and the annual separation of nearly 4,000
highly trained Naval personnel.
